Local Endurance Horse riding group welcomes new riders!...

5th April, 2025.

At the start of March the North and East Yorkshire endurance horse riding group held a very successful 'Introduction to Endurance - Meet the Panel' evening at Thirsk Auction Mart.

The event enabled potential newcomers to the sport to ask the experts questions before entering their first ride with Endurance Great Britain.

On the panel were Bridget Brown and her daughter Nikki who have both competed at all levels for many years including being part of the England Home International team on numerous occasions.

Alongside them were Tracy Thompson, a highly successful Para Rider and Tom Ferriby from Beningbrough Equine, official vet at a number of rides, checking the welfare of the horses throughout each event.

The evening included a meal kindly served by staff at the Auction Mart over which vital information (as well as humorous anecdotes) were shared.

Organizers of the event were very happy to see attendees from that evening at the first pleasure ride of the season at Escrick a few weeks later.

These riders enjoyed lovely routes across beautiful terrain covering distances ranging from eight miles to 13 miles.

Escrick was Lucy the horses first endurance ride.

She was ridden by Charlotte Martin and was accompanied by Lucy's owner on another horse.

Charlotte said that although she had been 'worried about not knowing what to do when she arrived at the venue' her fears were soon alleviated as everyone was very helpful, 'nothing was too much trouble'.
