Thirsk & Carlton Miniott W.I. Summer Visit...

For their annual visit this year, Thirsk & Carlton Miniott W.I. visited Dunesford Vineyard, near Boroughbridge, where they learned about grape varieties suitable for cooler climates, and the pruning and care required for grape production, often carried out by vineyard volunteers.

Moving inside to the Cellar Bar, we were immediately struck by the wonderful murals, by Lynn Ward of Leyburn, which make you feel as if you are stepping into an ancient wine cellar.

And upstairs a 27ft long depiction of nearby Aldborough and it’s vineyards at the peak of the Roman occupation. It turns out that English wine production is nothing new...
