Primrose Raises Funds for Cancer Charity...

A very special animal went under the hammer at Thirsk Farmers Mart Tuesday 31st January.

A rare breed white shorthorn heifer, the favourite animal of the late Kate Jeffery, was sold by her family to raise funds for the St Leonards Hospice.

Part of a lot from the same herd, Primrose went for £1,500 pounds, more than twice the price of her siblings.

Her husband, Chris Jeffrey entered the auction ring to applaud the generosity of the bidders. His wife had named the cow Primrose after a house cow she had brought up and milked by hand when she was a child..........
