Round up of 2023 for Thirsk White Horse Swimming Club...

3rd February, 2024.

The year started with 15 swimmers gaining 97 qualifying times compared to 12 swimmers gaining 66 qualifying times in 2022 for the Yorkshire Championships in February.

There were strong performances all round, with 5 swimmers achieving top 10 final placings: Kiki 7 top ten including bronze in 100Brs; Jess & Will with 2 top ten; Max 4 top ten and Ben 8 top ten including gold 50 Brs, silver 100 Brs, 100FC & 50 FC and bronze 50Fly & 200 Brs.

For this year’s Yorkshire Championships to be held in February we have 28 swimmers that have gained an amazing 150 qualifying times again over all age groups.

In April 2023 we were back in Sheffield and Sunderland for the North East regional championships. The swimmers really worked hard in the interim time and produced improved times and a much more mature approach to their competition.

Sadly, there were no medals in a high-quality event, but we had more finalists and top ten placings than ever before with a total of 15 in all.

Congratulations to Ben (7), Max, Will and Kiki (2 each). Jess made the finals in all 3 of her 50m sprint events (Fly, BC, FC) Ben’s performance moved him up the national rankings in a number of events. And for the first time in the club’s history, we had a female swimmer, Jess Jennison, qualify for the National Meets held in July and August.
