Thirsk Falcons U12 Blues vs Riverside Gunners...

1st February, 2025.

The Blues were finally able to get 2025 underway today after weather had prohibited the first games of the year from being played.

After 6 weeks without a game there was a fear that the boys might be a little bit match rusty and take some time to find their stride.

Those fears were soon put to bed as Thirsk controlled the opening exchanges looking to create attacking chances from wide positions.

They pressed well and harried the Gunners often winning the ball back high up the pitch to continue to cause threats.

5 minutes into the match the Blues won a corner and the ball fell to Jeremy’s feet for him to calmly slot in to open the scoring.

5 minutes, the Blues had another corner taken by Jake which evaded the keeper and looped straight in directly from the corner kick to make it two nil.

Soon after with Thirsk still on the front foot, Carrick played the ball in from the left wing to Ozzie in the midfield where he slotted home from the edge of the penalty area.

The Gunners were creating opportunities of their own and won a freekick from the wing and a a great delivery into the box somehow managed to flash past everyone to let Thirsk off the hook.

With the first half drawing to a close Jake picked up the ball on the wing and hit one of his trademark shots from 35 yards out on the wing to make it 4-0 at the break.
