15th February, 2025.

The NYSD cross country season continued at the weekend on a very cold day at Whitby, though conditions were calm enough for running over a real cross country course incorporating woods, fields, a cinder track, a leap across a stream and the inevitable mud in places.

Alison Butcher, Carol Thompson, Margaret Wikeley and Christine Burn were among the 100 ladies in the field, and it was good to see Margaret running again after an injury which has kept her out for ages.

There were about the same number in the senior men's field with Paul Peacock again performing well to finish 25th in a time of 38.46.

Andy Butcher and Adrian Wood were the only other two men, with Adrian doing his first ever cross country.

Among the older men, running with the ladies, were the ever present Rob Burn, Ken Evitt and Alan Wikeley.
