Brass Band Has Christmas All Wrapped Up...

Thirsk RBL Band had much to celebrate over the festive season, with a packed Thirsk Town Hall enjoying its annual Christmas Concert, where not one but two awards were handed out.

The band thanked its very own ‘angel’ - Maureen Worley, for her 30 years of service as Engagement Secretary as she steps down from the role in 2023. In a touching tribute, band member Sophie Smith fondly remembered how Maureen had helped her learn to read music in her first days in the Training Band, and thanked her and her husband John for allowing the band to hold its annual Garden Party at their home.

Vice-chairman Luke Andrew said ‘Maureen has dedicated so much of her time to Thirsk RBL Band. She is the person who ensures everyone has uniforms, helps the Training Band members gain confidence, organizes fundraising and social events, and, in her role as Engagement Secretary, liaises with event organizers and venues to fill our busy diary. Maureen will still be a familiar face at rehearsals and concerts, but as she and her husband John take more time away, she has decided to step down from this role.

The band, the committee and I are very grateful profusely for her commitment..........
