Saturday 5th July saw 22 new runners from the Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers Beginners to 5K course taking on their graduation run at Easingwold Millfield parkrun, with 36 existing Harriers there to support the group.
It was a special morning for the new runners, who had been training towards this moment for ten weeks.
They all did themselves and the club proud – crossing the finish line with lots of support on the sidelines.
Afterwards, everyone was able to enjoy some homemade cake and Andy Butcher, head coach of the Beginner’s group, was able to present hand-crafted trophies to every graduate.
There was even a chance for those who had attended 8 or more sessions to win £100 voucher for running goodies.
It was a lovely celebration of all the hard work put in by the Beginner’s group, who have all come a long way over the ten week course, and their coaches, Andy, Bronywn Mayo, Paul Chapman, Richard Grant and Jody Sygrove. Much appreciation to all the organizers and volunteers who made Millfield parkrun such a friendly event for the whole group.
The Beginner’s group will now continue their running journeys and many were welcomed to club training on Monday 7th July, with 25 joining Harriers officially so far!
