Community Works of Thirsk is awarded a team of business experts and funding to tackle the cost-of-living crisis...

Community Works, a Thirsk based charity who run a Food Bank, services for people living with dementia, work with vulnerable women and more has had the impact of its current services and future ambitions recognized with its selection as a 2023 Weston Charity Awards winner.

The award gives the charity the chance to invest in its future with ten months of strategic planning support from a dedicated team of four business experts, thanks to pro bono charity Pilotlight and a core grant of £6,500 from the Garfield Weston Foundation.

Community Works was chosen from over 100 applicants, all of whom are frontline charities delivering youth, welfare, community or environment services in the North of England, the Midlands and Wales.

Rob Rolls, Chief Executive Officer for Community Works said;

Community Works is a unique charity, working with both volunteers and staff to provide some outstanding services across Thirsk and the surrounding area.

During the last year we’ve seen the cost of living crisis really hit home, and the input from the Garfield Weston Foundation will give us an even greater impact on people living in this part of Yorkshire...............
