Herriot Hospice charity cycle race triumph for Peter Wright and friends...

Last Wednesday morning 7th June, Peter Wright, the Thirsk tv vet, beloved of Channel Five’s “The Yorkshire Vet” series, and formerly local vet in the town and who was mentored by Alf White, James Herriot, undertook a gruelling cycle ride from Morecombe to Bridlington, accompanied and spurred on long time friends and family, Andy Cooper, Andy Carver and Paul Pattison.

They were supported by their wives and David and Denise Wright on the road.

Channel Five’s Daisy Bank Studios television camera teams accompanied them on their route. The journey is 170 gruelling miles.

Setting off from Morecombe in mixed weather forecasts saw them cycle via smaller roads where possible, over the Pennines’s many hills, which taxed their endurance at times, and sometimes sense of direction over difficult terrain...............
