Wetherby Juniors U14 v Thirsk Falcons U14 Girls...

11th March, 2023.

Thirsk took the short trip to Wetherby this morning to play the away fixture in the league. The last few games between the sides have always be close matched games.

The pitch seemed small and not even and made it hard work for both teams to play flowing football but credit to all the girls from both teams.

Thirsk pressed from the off and played some offensive football creating a number of half chances throughout the half.

Lex, Eva and Lily caused Wetherby a lot of problems with their determined play and resulting in a number of chances that just flashed wide or were saved by the Wetherby keeper.

The ball didn’t run truly and it nearly caught out the Wetherby keeper on a couple of occasions but the half looked like it was going to remain even up till half time.

5 minutes from the half time whistle a long throw from Lily went into the box and the Wetherby defence didn’t react and Lex struck the ball into the back of the net.

A well deserved lead for Thirsk who played large amounts of the game in the opposition half...........
