Three retired school teachers who enjoy a cuppa at their favourite table in Thirsk Garden Centre and solve intricate mysteries have a growing reputation.
Liz, Pat and Thelma, the creation of author and playwright J M (Jonathan) Hall, are now the subject of a fourth book, A Brush with Death, in which the three ladies delve into the case of Neville Hilton, who may or may not have died of a massive heart attack in the pretty village of Holllinby Quernhow.
Jonathan was at Thirsk Garden Centre - where else! – with Avon Book’s Editorial Director Emma Grundy Haigh and Sue Lake of White Rose Book Cafe to launch the new book in front of an audience who had clearly enjoyed the previous three in the series.
Jonathan explained that his ideas for the books emerge, like lightning striking, from a “primordial soup” of ideas and develop on a bit of paper or his new white board with coloured pens long before they get to the typing-up stage.
