Members of the Northallerton Amateur Variety Company have been doing their bit to support the Herriot Hospice@The Lambert Appea to open a hospice in Thirsk, with a £5,000 boost.
The money was raised from the company’s popular annual pantomime, Aladdin, performed in January at The Forum in Northerallerton.
Secretary Maureen Willoughby said: “We set up a pantomime group in 1979 with the aim that any profits would go to local charities. Even with the pandemic and all its problems we have managed to make a profit on our pantomimes and appreciation must go to the wonderful cast and all the helpers who give their time free of charge.
“This donation was a no-brainer as it is a wonderful project to have a hospice in this area and it will benefit Northallerton as well as the surrounding area. We also have former local GPs working so hard for Herriot Hospice Homecare in Dr Rosie Paige and Dr Hilary Enevoldson.
“We are delighted to support this project.”
