Sowerby Flower Club...

2nd November, 2024.

Our October demonstrator, Kay Ford, from Fulford, chose as her theme "Sweet Charity".

This referenced not the musical, but the work of various charitable organizations.

These included The National Garden Scheme, a charity for dogs, the British Heart Foundation, N.A.F.A.S.(National Association of Flower Arranging Societies), the Red Cross, (an arrangement in red flowers), and Marie Curie, (yellow flowers).

She also used 'finds' from charity shops, such as a galvanized bucket and a white fruit bowl.

A white arrangement was a reminder of her choice to train as a nurse in the Royal Air Force, influenced by their wearing white shoes!

Her career as a District Nurse was reflected in her accompanying talk, when she mentioned the beneficial effects of small acts of kindness, which make us feel good, and lower blood pressure.
