A Thirsk GP surgery has been commended after two employees brought home awards celebrating their contribution to best practice in end of life care.
The Daffodil Standards Awards are a partnership between end of life charity Marie Curie and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and aim to identify and celebrate best practice in end of life care by GPs and practice teams.
The ceremony took place at the RCGP Annual Conference on Friday 4 October with Lambert Medical Center in Thirsk, scooping two of the awards. Care Coordinator Julie Hall received Management and Receptionist General Practice Team Member of the Year, whilst Registrar Dr Siri Upputuri was commended as Trainee of the Year.
Nominees and winners were selected based on their implementation of The Daffodil Standards, a set of voluntary standards developed by Marie Curie and RCGP.
Judges praised Julie Hall and Dr Siri Upputuri on their innovative and impactful work at Lambert Medical Centre. Both winners were celebrated for their collaborative work producing leaflets for patients which were said to be invaluable in facilitating compassionate end of life care at the practice.
