A couple of weeks ago, sitting comfortably at my laptop, I confidently predicted that Jasmine Harrison, Atlantic rower extraordinaire, would within the next few days complete her claim to be the first woman to swim the length of Great Britain, 900 miles.
She had just rounded the coast into the final stretch across the north of Scotland. But there was a problem: sea and weather conditions off that coast were too hazardous.
She has been supported throughout the swim by a small boat called Crews Control, but strong winds, up to force 10, meant the boat struggled to keep close enough to Jasmine for safety, and she could get lost in the swell.
Add to this a NATO military practise, Operation Joint Warrior, going on in the area, the persistent encounters with jelly fish, and the swim was temporarily halted.........
