A fine, dry morning saw 8 Harriers set off on the challenge of Ripon Ultra, about 35 miles of multi terrain ground starting at Studley Rodger to Ripon then along the river to West Tanfield and Masham.
Along the river still, through woodlands and mud making for awkward running and navigation, Druids Temple, up Ilton Hill, then to High Skell, Sawley, back to Ripon through the Fountains Abbey deer park, downhill along the straight road (usually in races organized by Ripon Runners you're going uphill along this stretch, but after 30+ miles, you hardly notice the difference!) and back to Studley.
The versatile and enduring Paul Peacock finished in 2nd place in 5.07, with Trudy Morrice 11th in 5.51, picking up the prize for 2nd lady, Kim Wilkinson 19th in 6.31, Anna Whitham 27th in 6.54, Alan Simpson 41st in 7.32, Lucy Sillars 50th in 7.50 and Duncan Fothergill 73rd in 8.26.........
