Last Thursday afternoon North Yorkshire County Record Office staff showed off a display of old maps and photos of Thirsk and district and talked about these and links to further information and records online at Thirsk Community Library on Chapel Street.
Many of the visitors were senior citizens who have either come to live in this area or are long term residents, all curious to know more about their house, street or village.
Danielle Spargo and Gwyneth Endersby proudly showed off the centuries old map, amateur photographs of buildings and records available to peruse.
Immediately, everyone talked amongst themselves about that they had come across on the displays and reminisced or explored new information and then shared it with excited listeners...
