Another busy week saw 25 members among the 348 assembled for the 27th running of the popular Tholthorpe 10k on another very warm morning.
The friendly road race in the village with the duck pond had Paul Peacock once again fastest Harrier for the latest club championship race, 17th in a time of 38.05.
Matt Jones, 22nd, took 39.05, Dan Garthewaite 24th in 39.25 and Gary Wilkinson 25th in 39.36. Those four were under 40 minutes on a course which is definitely undulating!
Richard Grant took 42.21, Esther Harrison 42nd, and 1st lady, 42.28, also winning the trophy for the North Yorkshire 10k Championship, which was run in conjunction with Tholthorpe.
An oustanding result for Esther. Ken Wood took 44.56, Rob Burn 91st, and 2nd M70, 47.30, Clare Rowntree 48.04, Kirsty Naylor 50.06, Martyn Coy 52.02, Pedro Carrasco 53.00, Louise Mayfield 52.41, Andrew Pollard 54.23, Ruth Pollard 55.00, Geoff Bullock 55.30, Duncan Fothergill 55.32, Faith Coy 60.55, Tracey Docherty, running with husband, Alan, 62.59, Phillip Craig 64.20, Rob Lickley - good to see him tackling a 10k again - 68.33, Hugh Jennyns 69.53, Christine Burn 72.38, and Ian Codling 109.58.
It was a weekend of firsts for Richard Grant. Tholthorpe was the first 10k road race he'd ever done, and the previous day he was among the 143 starters for the inaugural Thorpe Perrow park run over fields and some tracks, and perhaps likely to be muddy in parts in wet weather?
He came 4th in 21.45 with Lorraine Hiles 28th in 25.11 and Pete Jackson, running with his children, 121st in 41.50...
