Thirsk Falcons U12 Blues vs Skelton Utd Blues...

14th September, 2024.

The Falcons Blues got their season off and underway this morning against Skelton at the Sportsvillage in Sowerby.

Everyone present knew the season had started as we were met with grey skies and drizzle and generally dull weather.

The Blues had anything but dullness on their mind however as right from the off, the looked to press high, and play with a real intensity.

Skelton spent much of the opening exchanges reacting to Thirsk’s quick football.

Despite Thirsk’s pressure, midway through the first half, the scores were still level and Thirsk mounted yet another attack.

Their keeper was equal to it and quickly released a long ball over the top for Skelton to pounce on and with Thirsk scrambling to get back they were overloaded and the ball was squared into the penalty area for Skelton to take the lead.

With that goal Skelton began to grow into the game comforted by a one goal lead. Thirsk continued to probe and create opportunities and with 2 minutes to go until halftime, Jeremy went through on goal.

His shot was saved but he was able to leap onto the follow up and to rocket it in to level the scores going into the break.
