Thirsk’s Herriot Hospice Open Day a great Success...

21st September, 2024.

Over two hundred and fifty people came along to tour the new Herriot Hospice faculties on Chapel Street in the town last Sunday, with plenty of staff and volunteers around to talk about the site and inspect its new range of care for the community in this area.

The building, the revived Lambert hospital, has been extended and renewed, with new corridors, rooms for counselling, a range of treatment help and catering facilities, as well as six large bedrooms and en suites for end of life care and short term respite care.

Also there are rooms for individual counselling and a room for Children’s bereavement counselling by the two staff, sponsored by Children In Need.

There is help with suicide situations and bereavement from any cause.

Children’s mental health is well catered for on site. There is an aromatherapy suite also.

There are sixteen Home Hospice staff available in the team for visits, advice and care, as well as volunteers who can offer help and other support in the hospice.
