Sowerby WI...

Sowerby WI have had a busy summer! On Sunday 4th August we had a stall at Thirsk & Sowerby Annual Festival on the Flatts.

We had a bottle tombola (manned competently and enthusiastically by Diane) and we also sold cards, craft items, cakes, preserves and plants, all of which were made or donated by members and friends.

The proceeds from this (£270) are to be donated to Herriot Hospice Care.

On 14th August, some of our members went by coach to Scampston Hall and Gardens for our summer outing.

We had elevenses on arrival, at the Pantry Café (it was warm enough to sit outside) followed by a very informative and enjoyable tour of the hall (still a family home), by our knowledgeable guide Anne, before exploring the beautiful grounds and the walled garden.

We had a late lunch back in the Pantry café and browsed the Conservatory shop and art and craft display, before the coach journey home.

It was a relaxed, informal, and sociable trip, well organized by Lesley and made more enjoyable by the beautiful weather.
