Clarets U10s v Riverside Blues

#

25th January, 2019.

A return to form for the Clarets today with all the team trying their best and showing commitment. Riverside had some good play but Clarets dominated possession and when we lost the ball we made every effort to get it back as we had practiced in training. Plenty of corners, throw ins, great tackles, runs down the wings and crosses into the box saw Clarets take an early lead. The midfield worked their socks off today and our defence was solid. The best move of the first half saw Thomas collect the ball and beat three opposition sidestepping left and right and finished with an amazing spinning turn to cross the ball into our mid-fielders. Riverside managed to score from a melee in our box and a rousing halftime team talk got the Clarets fired up for the second half....

Following this, Nicola demonstrated her method, then helped members make their own versions of the wreath, with very attractive results....

Sutton Bank

#

18th January, 2019.

Sutton Bank can be rather quiet on a wintery Monday, but it makes for a good walk and for those who are still trying to lose a little weight gained over Christmas it has a lot to offer. The car park was almost empty, but still charging £2.50 for 2 hours’ stay, which goes to help keep the place looking good, which it does. The cafeteria was closed, and sadly so were the toilets. We chose the well-kept path to the south-east, towards the Gliding Club, part of the Cleveland Way. The sharp, low, bright sun was casting shadows across the tufts of grass and gorse. We paused for a few minutes to sit on one of the many benches, most dedicated to a loved one who must have enjoyed the views, and we looked out across the web of fields far below us, some with little white dots which were sheep. Lambing has already started, I believe. Away to our right we could see dark Lake Gormire. The horizon was lost in mist....
